What does a petrol station look like when it is designed from the driver outward rather than the pump outward? For EKO, STIRIXIS answered that question with a complete spatial and brand concept for a new station format in Kifisia, Athens, where every element, from the forecourt to the car wash to the coffee counter, was developed as part of a single, coherent environment.
Traditional fuel stations were limited to transactional use, while driver expectations for speed, convenience, and experience were evolving rapidly. The rise of EV mobility introduced new infrastructure demands — alternative energy, ultra-fast charging — that the legacy format could not accommodate.
STIRIXIS worked across spatial planning, exterior and interior design, experience design, graphics, landscape architecture and concept execution. The methodology began with the contemporary driver’s needs and the trajectory of mobility retail, ensuring every element was developed with a clear role within a unified environment that reinforces EKO’s brand identity.
The customer journey was designed to begin before the driver reaches the pumps. Lighting, signage, landscaping, and the clear organisation of functions guide the visitor from the moment of arrival. Multiple destinations within the station — EV charging, coffee, retail, car wash, dog wash, parcel lockers, e-bikes — are unified into a single, legible circulation path, so fuel or service selection is immediate and effortless.
The design response addressed three areas: a multi-energy forecourt supporting fuels, alternative energy, and ultra-fast EV charging; spatial organisation that reduces service times and improves service visibility; and an architectural environment where operational efficiency and brand quality reinforce each other.
The EKO station at 264 Kifisias Avenue in Kifisia launched in October 2025. The delivered environment integrates the EKO Charge & Go network with 790 kW of combined charging power, multi-energy infrastructure covering fuels, alternative energy and EV, a VDA-certified car wash system with 85% water recycling and 80% wastewater reduction, and an expanded service layer including a Coffee Island drive-through, mini market, dog wash, parcel lockers and complimentary e-bikes available to visitors during charging or wash — within a premium, spatially coherent brand environment.
The EKO station in Kifisia is a complete, multi-service environment where architecture, brand, and infrastructure work as a single system. From EV charging to car wash, coffee to parcel lockers, every element of the station was designed by STIRIXIS as part of a unified spatial and experiential concept.
“It is our honour to have collaborated with EKO in shaping the new station concept — partners who set the bar high for innovation and market leadership. I warmly thank their teams and our people for their dedication and excellence throughout this defining project. In a market changing exponentially, designing with strategic foresight and global trends as a guide is an act of leadership.”
