The National Bank of Greece — founded in 1841 and Greece’s largest bank — needed to upgrade the service model of its Corporate & Investment Banking division. Retail-focused branches were not suited for high-value, private financial discussions with corporate clients and high-wealth individuals. Bespoke solutions had been created in the past, but these could not be replicated efficiently across multiple locations. The design challenge was clear: one architectural model, five buildings, zero compromise — balancing 184 years of institutional legacy with contemporary corporate banking expectations.
The business had scale, but lacked a differentiated retail expression and a system that could support consistent growth across locations. The challenge was to redefine the brand experience and create a concept that could compete, connect, and scale.
STIRIXIS designed a system, not a project. The response was a modular, repeatable spatial model that translates advisory workflows directly into space: standardized meeting rooms, private consultation areas, and adaptable workspaces deployable across different building conditions. Confidentiality was embedded through layout, acoustics, and materials — ensuring privacy and trust at every point of client interaction. Heritage-driven materiality combined high-quality finishes and curated elements reflecting NBG’s institutional identity, while biophilic integration, ambient lighting, and planting supported comfort and wellbeing for both advisors and clients.
The scalable model was delivered across all five Corporate Service Hubs in Greece, adapted to different buildings while maintaining a consistent architectural identity, material quality, and advisory experience network-wide. One system replicated across five locations. The image of NBG’s service points was significantly elevated for corporate and high-wealth clients, and the working environment of advisory teams was materially improved — confirmed directly by the client. Today, the NBG Corporate Hubs have redefined the advisory workplace into a dynamic environment that reflects the bank’s values and empowers its people and clients.
