Merck Greece — the leading science and technology company in healthcare, life science, and performance materials — needed to redesign and renovate their headquarters to better reflect the company’s brand identity and values, and update the space to a new work model. Following a first-phase pre-project analysis and workplace assessment, STIRIXIS Group was assigned the full redesign. The project had to be delivered on time and on budget under the exceptional conditions of a COVID-19 lockdown, with the 8-week renovation managed entirely under pandemic restrictions.

STIRIXIS seamlessly managed and delivered all stages from business case to concept design through to final execution and handover. The front desk reception retained its essential architectural structure, updated with adjusted furniture, mobile elements, planting, directional marking, and logos. Upper floor levels were enriched with state-of-the-art booths and informal meeting rooms, establishing a safer circular continuous flow for employees. All areas were designed on a functional, modern open plan model with maximum transparency. Natural material textures and vibrant colours — inspired by Merck’s distinctive identity artwork — create a balanced and uplifting work environment that supports psychological safety, engagement, and higher performance. Sound-absorbing surfaces and intelligent lighting design enhance user experience and focus throughout. Meeting rooms and booths were carefully sound-insulated for the required privacy. Environmental graphics depicting elements of “Greekness” and an efficient wayfinding system complete the spatial identity.

The project was delivered completely on time and on budget — during the COVID-19 period. STIRIXIS Group produced a modern, powerful new concept for Merck Greece that re-energised their workplace, enhancing performance and boosting engagement. The project was recognised with the Best Office Interior Design Award at the International Property Awards 2021–2022, confirming the design’s excellence and impact. Client service was described as outstanding, with weekly detailed project and budget status reports maintained throughout the 8-week renovation.
