STIRIXIS Residential was asked to design and decorate the apartment, to cater the needs of a modern family living abroad until now, this floor apartment is located in the southern district of Athens, close to the sea and next to a lovely green hill, with a wonderful view of both. The project consisted of a kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, living room design, kitchen design, bathroom design, while also bedroom design for all the family members. Apart from the apartment renovation, the whole interior decoration was also a result of the collaboration with the clients.
A modern family had been living abroad and their apartment on the Athens Riviera needed a complete transformation to meet their lifestyle upon return. Every room required reimagining: kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and living spaces, while remaining deeply connected to what made the location exceptional, proximity to the sea, a green hill next door, natural light, and the elegant simplicity of life in the southern suburbs of Athens. The brief demanded that the design honour the views and the light without imposing on them, and that the whole interior decoration, not just the architecture, reflect the family’s personal taste and needs.
STIRIXIS Residential made natural light and the surrounding views the primary design material. Low furniture was specified throughout so as never to obstruct the light or the view of the green hill next door, keeping the style elegant and simple. The main living area was opened into a spacious, relaxing open plan; the living room and dining room separated by a low bespoke furniture piece, with the kitchen occupying the side corner, its island counter creating an everyday social centrepiece around which the family and guests could gather. The master bedroom was positioned to maximise the best moments of the day, with natural light entering freely and a glass wall offering a considered connection to the dual bathroom beyond, which also includes a walk-in closet with ample storage. A playroom and TV room adjacent to the children’s bedroom completed the family brief, with a comfortable sofa for screening and a designated area for quiet play. Every finish, material, and piece of furniture was selected in close collaboration with the clients, making the full interior decoration a shared act of creation.
The family returned to a high-end apartment with a contemporary interior design that felt entirely their own. Managed remotely through frequent updates by email, Skype meetings, and short trips, the project demonstrated that trust, research, and rigorous project management can bridge any distance. The result was recognised with the European Property Awards for Interior Design Apartment Greece 2018,2019. The owners described the experience as comforting, trustful, and efficient ; a collaboration that brought their dream to life.
